Hole 1
Stepping off the nearby practice green and onto the first tees, players are presented with one of the most dramatic opening tee shots in Sydney golf. The high elevation of the tees affords long and wide district views along with a commanding view of the wide bunkerless fairway down below. The course opens with this wide 3 shot hole that aims to get players off the tee without too much trouble. Centre to left is the best way, as a case of too far right presents semi blind shot forwards and if too far left shots will bounce left.
Reachable in two shots for the longer hitters the large 960m2 green provides for a great range of pin positions and the longest putting on the course. There is plenty of room front left of the green for the players reaching the green in 3 or more shots with carefully shaped undulations. Pins out to the right half of the green require negotiating the right greenside bunker to where the green rolls down and then slopes out to the back. The left half of the green is more of a traditional slope from back down to the front.
