Grounds Update

Greens & Surrounds

The green surrounds have continued to improve this week and most of the sand has now found its way into the canopy. We still require warmer soil temperatures for the zoysia to fully wake up, but once it does, it will be a night and day difference to how it has been in recent weeks. I’d like to remind members to avoid walking push buggies between greens and green side bunkers, these areas are narrow and wear out very quickly.
The greens have bounced back well following the renovation and some consistent dusting. They have firmed up resulting in truer rolls and reduced pitch marks. We will continue to work on their consistency through the next few weeks alongside the Championships.

General Course

With the Men’s & Women’s Club Championships now with us, we have changed our focus away from the spring cultural practices on the greens, to course presentation. We have increased our mowing schedule to the different areas of the course, completed extra work snipping and cleaning up around tees, edged and leveled bunkers. This will continue through the next two weeks until both the Championship finals have been played. As the weather permits (next week doesn’t look good with a lot of rain forecasted) we will be juggling planned works as each day presents itself.

Drainage / Shade Management Work

The drainage works in the next few weeks will be limited as we prepare the course for the Club Championships, the one thing we can do without interruption to the golfers or conditions is additional coring around and in-between the installed drainage on the 2nd, 16th and 7th surrounds together with the 14th tee drainage.
